Italian  Sauces

Nearly half a century ago three Coppola brothers immigrated to the United States from,  Monte di Procida, Italy.  With only their family traditions, they set sail in the hopes of finding the American Dream.  The dream was realized when they opened their first Italian restaurant, “Coppola’s” in downtown Poughkeepsie, New York in 1961.  It was there that they introduced the Hudson Valley to their love for food by preparing authentic Southern Italian Neapolitan cuisine, as taught to them by their mother, Mama Teresa. 

The recipe was very simple and the ingredients came from her garden.  Using fresh garlic and garden herbs, she would sauté these ingredients in virgin olive oil until golden brown in order to extract t the full flavor and aroma.

The Coppola brothers kept to their roots and introduced their family recipes to the Hudson Valley shortly after arriving to their new homeland. Their sauce formula was based on rich flavored plum tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil and only fresh ingredients which quickly became the rage and the “heart” of Italian Cuisine in the Hudson Valley. 

Over the years valued customers would stop and purchase Coppola sauces at their restaurants to prepare their family meals.   In 1988, the second generation of Coppola’s ventured out to make their gourmet sauces more available to their loyal customers as well as to introduce many more families to their family tradition by jarring their premium sauces.  Nearly half a century since the début, the excitement and love for Coppola’s sauces is more popular than ever and expanding very quickly throughout the country.
